The #QP19 Experience of a Lifetime Contest
Presented by Woodbine Entertainment
Contest starts Tuesday, October 16, 2018 at 1pm ET and continues until Friday, November 9, 2018 at 11:59pm ET (the “Contest Closing Date”). No purchase necessary. Limit one (1) entry per person. Woodbine Entertainment is the sponsor of this contest (the “Contest Sponsor”).
Eligibility: This contest is open only to legal residents of Canada (excluding Quebec) and legal United States residents residing in the fifty (50) United States and Washington D.C. who are at least eighteen (18) years of age and the age of majority in their province / state of primary residence and excluding employees of the Contest Sponsor and those with whom they are domiciled. The contest is subject to all applicable federal, provincial/state and municipal laws and regulations. Contest is void in Quebec and where prohibited by law. By participating, each entrant agrees to be bound by these Official Rules & Regulations and the decisions of the Contest Sponsor.
a) To enter, go to www.Woodbine.com/WAYIToronto, complete the entry ballot in full and submit it as instructed before the Contest Closing Date.
b) A random draw by a representative of the Contest Sponsor from all eligible entries received will be made at 3pm ET on Monday, November 12, 2018. Selected entrant will be contacted by telephone or email, as set out on the entry form. In the event the selected entrant is an eligible Canadian resident as set out above, the selected entrant will have to correctly answer, unaided, a time-limited mathematical skill testing question in order to claim prize.
c) If a selected entrant cannot be reached by 3pm ET on Wednesday, November 14, 2018, incorrectly answers the skill-testing question (for eligible Canadian entrants only), declines the prize, fails to return a Confirmation of Acceptance of Prize and Release as specified below, or is ineligible for the prize, the Contest Sponsor reserves the right, at their sole discretion, to select another entrant or to cancel the prize.
d) To be declared a winner, selected entrant must meet the requirements set out above and return a signed Confirmation of Acceptance of Prize and Release. The Contest Sponsor’s rulings are final and without appeal in all matters related to the contest and the awarding of prizes.
Entrants are eligible to win one (1) grand prize with an approximate retail value of $2,500 USD consisting of:
Round trip airfare for two (2) from closest major airport anywhere in North America to Toronto, Ontario (up to a maximum of $1,200 USD)
Two nights accommodation for two (2) for the weekend of the 160th running of the Queen’s Plate (up to a maximum of $800 USD). Dates to be confirmed.
Two (2) VIP tickets to the 2019 Queen’s Plate Festival
a) Prizes must be accepted as awarded and may not be transferred or exchanged. The Contest Sponsor reserves the right to substitute a prize of at least equal value in the event of the unavailability, for whatever reason, of the advertised prizes.
b) The winner’s guest must be eighteen (18) years of age or older, or if the guest is a minor, the winner must be such minor guest’s parent or legal guardian. Each guest must sign and return a liability/publicity release prior to travel or, in the case of a minor guest, the guest’s parent/legal guardian must sign the liability/publicity release on such minor guest’s behalf prior to travel. The winner and their guest are solely responsible for all costs not expressly described herein including, without limitation, room service, gratuities, merchandise, telephone calls, insurance together with any required travel documentation, and all personal expenses of any kind or nature, together with any applicable overnight layover. The winner and their guest are also solely responsible for all costs incurred to and from the departure point as the grand prize travel originates and terminates there. The winner and their guest must travel together on the same itinerary and are solely responsible for obtaining all required travel documentation including any health / medical and travel insurance. Air transportation tickets are non-refundable / non-transferable and are not valid for upgrades and/or frequent flyer miles. All air transportation tickets are subject to the vagaries of flight variation, work stoppages and schedule or route changes. Approximate retail value for travel prizes may vary depending upon points of departure and destination and fare fluctuations. If the closest International airport to the winner’s home is in close enough proximity to Toronto, Ontario so that, as the Contest Sponsor may determine in their sole discretion, a flight is unnecessary, the winner will receive alternate transportation from the Contest Sponsor with no further obligation to the winner. Winner will not receive cash or any other form of compensation if actual travel costs are less than the prize value in these Official Rules & Regulations. The Contest Sponsor reserves the right to structure the travel route and select hotels in their sole discretion.
c) The grand prize trip is tentatively scheduled to take place from Friday, June 28, 2019 to Sunday, June 30, 2019. Dates of departure and return are subject to change at the Contest Sponsor’s sole discretion. If the winner is unable to participate in the trip during the dates designated by the Contest Sponsor, the prize will be forfeited in its entirety. In the event the winner is able to participate in the trip during the dates designated by the Contest Sponsor but the Queen’s Plate does not or cannot take place as scheduled or at all, for reasons including but not limited to scheduling conflicts, cancellations, postponement, an event of force majeure, or for any other reason, the Contest Sponsor reserves the right to award the remainder of the grand prize with no further obligation to the winner. The Contest Sponsor shall not be liable to the winner and their guests in the event that a flight is cancelled, delayed or rescheduled for any reason resulting in the winner being unable to attend all or any of the scheduled events, and the Contest Sponsor shall have the right in their sole discretion to substitute, amend, reschedule and/or cancel any element of the prize and such prize may not be awarded to the winner and the winner shall not be compensated for such cancellation.
By entering this contest, entrants consent to the use of their entry, name, city of residence and/or any photograph that may be taken in publicity carried out by the Contest Sponsor and/or its advertising agencies, without further notice or compensation.
Winners will be responsible for any and all federal, state/provincial and/or local taxes and any other costs or expenses resulting from awarding or acceptance of the prize. Winners who are residents of the United States and win prizes valued individually or combined at $600 USD or more will require an IRS Form 1099 for the total actual retail value of the prize(s) after the prize has been awarded. Winners cannot assign or transfer any prize to another person. If a prize cannot be awarded due to circumstances beyond the control of the Contest Sponsor, a substitute prize of equal or greater retail value may be provided. If a prize is awarded but unclaimed or forfeited by recipient, the Contest Sponsor may choose not to select another winner in its sole discretion. Other restrictions may apply.
Odds of winning depend on the number of eligible entries. All entries that are incomplete, illegible, damaged, irregular, have been submitted through illicit means, or do not conform to or satisfy any condition of the rules may be disqualified by the Contest Sponsor. The Contest Sponsor take no responsibility for lost, stolen, delayed, damaged, misdirected, late or destroyed entries, or for typographical or other production errors. The Contest Sponsor is not responsible for any errors or omissions in printing or advertising this contest. All entries become the property of the Contest Sponsor and will not be returned.
By entering this contest, entrants release and hold harmless the Contest Sponsor, their advertising and promotional agencies and the contest judge(s), their affiliates and respective directors, officers, owners, partners, employees, agents, dealers, representatives, successors and assigns (collectively the “Releases”) from any liability in connection with this contest or, if declared a winner, the prize.
This contest will be run in accordance with these Official Rules and Regulations, subject to amendment by the Contest Sponsor. Entrants must comply with these Rules and Regulations and will be deemed to have received and understood the Rules and Regulations by participating in the contest. The Contest Sponsor may amend or modify these Rules and Regulations or cancel or postpone this contest at their sole discretion at any time prior to the distribution of prizing. Any disagreements or disputes arising out of this contest will be resolved by the Contest Sponsor at their sole and absolute discretion.
ALL ISSUES AND QUESTIONS CONCERNING THE CONSTRUCTION, VALIDITY, INTERPRETATION AND ENFORCEABILTY OF THESE OFFICIAL RULES OR THE RIGHTS AND OBLIGATIONS OF ENTRANTS OR SPONSOR IN CONNECTION WITH THE PROMOTION SHALL BE GOVERNED AND CONSTRUED BY THE LAWS OF THE PROVINCE OF ONTARIO WITHOUT GIVING EFFECT TO ANY CHOICE OF LAW OR CONFLICT OF LAW RULES OR PROVISIONS THAT WOULD CAUSE THE APPLICATION OF ANY OTHER STATE LAWS.
